I can only speak for myself, but I am SO sick & tired of all this couple's wedding... Enough already! Do our own lives lack so much drama that we look elsewhere in the Land of the Lost for it? Ugh. The news isn't even news! It's like an all-day tabloid! Blech...

“ Great Sermon! ”
Precious and liberating Truth! I can't help but think if I had heard such clear teaching in my early Christian life it would have spared me much inner turmoil!

Yep Frank, Not the Same seems to be implying the "Corridors of Time" God - i.e. God looks down through time to see what happens and thereby whom will be saved ultimately. Not a bit true - unless you admit God made the corridors and then everything that happens in them which of course, at that point, you're no longer dealing with a God who is just an observer of time.

Been Watching, well, I have had those moments often, usually with pointless, mundane things. Once however I was able to pull a friend back from being beaned with a fly ball. I don't know what those are but they're weird.

Been Watching, amen! When my days seem full of turmoil and pain (my mother is in a slow fade to her eternity & my father is watching his bride deteriorate slowly), my Dad told me -"I have to remember, that with God, we are already seated at His table feasting and praising Him." I can only contemplate that eternity I have not bodily reached yet; but I can see God has already walked the path for me, walked with me, carries me, and pushes me from behind. I'm there with Him, only by His amazing grace, and not an iota of my own doing or else I would be utterly lost!

...and that while time exists for us, God our Father lives in the past, present & future, all at the same instant - time is not for Him and He has zero constraints therein. Absolutley blows the mind how awesome He is! Truly, we will spend eternity contemplating the meaning, depth, breadth and wonder of "I Am". And we won't be able to touch the deepness in all of eternity. What's left for us but to be awestruck!

Encouraging words and wonderful illustrations, gentlemen! What a joy to be in the hands of a good and just God who absolutley controls all things. As His child then, my burdens I can freely lay down and confess my guilt, shame, ugliness and utter lack of strength because I serve one who will over-come it for me, yet through me. Christopher was so right: "God is amazing." The day our breath isn't caught just thinking of that, would be a sad day indeed!

I wonder about the "fortunate enough" to stay home comment... How much does it costs to hire a nanny/babysitter? And what does the commute of Mom cost? The added vehicle insurance, licensing? How about Mom's work clothes, makeup, hair-stuff? The cost of food since nanny's being fed now plus mom-on-the-go; and meals need a quick fix so convenience over homemade needs to be purchased. Technology upgrades (cell phone, tablets)? If these costs are added up I would suspects we're seeing where Mom's paycheck is going.

It was tough going from two incomes to one... until we realized exactly HOW we were spending the money God was entrusting to us. So much was on stuff and unnecessary. Those kids belong to God & He always affords what He buys, so to speak. I have yet to meet a family that could not keep Mom at home (with the exception of a father who had been in an accident & physically could not work his construction job). It might be tough. Sometimes you struggle and "do without". But I know, and in quick order, one's faithfulness to God's family plan will bring success, happiness and fulfilment in ways never imagined! Nine babies later and God continues to provide exactly what we need, when we need it.

Our winter has been a long winter at 5600 ft in Montana. Our first snowstorm was in September (16 inches) and it has just kept on coming. We still have 3 and 4 foot snow drifts. It seems this week we might finally be thawing out! I thank the Lord for His changing of seasons & know all this snow will give us a buffer into fire season.

Hi Frank! So true! I once heard a pastor make a comment I think of often. He was speaking of our world views using Saul and David during the fight with Goliath as an example. Saul was afraid of the giant saying "Who are we that we should go up against these Philistines?!" while David said "Who is this Philistine that he should defy the God of Isreal!?" His point being that the challenges in your life are a battle between your God and Satan, not you and Satan. So prayer used as communication between God and man is our link. But as Edward Bear and Watcher said, so many abuse what godly prayer is and use it as some magical formula to peace.

Prayer is not a magic talisman for allieving stress. Like Saul treated the Ark or consulted priests and prophets before battle (God did not answer him); as many pray to saints or with shiny beads; or unbiblical, scripted prayers... Any relief is superficial and short-lived.

Pure relief from stress comes in the comfort of conversation with the One who predestined all things and so can speak to us as He spoke to the Sea of Galilee "Peace, be still." In THAT a Christian can lay down their cares continually and focus on what is above while being helped by our Savior with what is below. Everyone wants a quick fix. Sanctification takes a life-time. But we're in Good Hands, saints!

Many, John! But trolling isn't one of them.

Quiet Christian, I'm not sure where I heard that; I'm thinking it was during the hurricane events this year in the south. I believe that was the statement an employee gave. It's a piece of the Westminister Shorter Catechism although I am unaware of any denomination they align with. Love their food at any rate and so nice to see the charity they freely give.

Yolanda, Matthew 5:4 says "For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

Nature happens all around us, as SF said - a fallen world suffers and groans.

That being said, there are particular events of nature that God has used as punishment. We have several earthquakes listed in Scripture, destruction of cities by fire, floods... So I believe there is enough Scriptural evidence to say these events can happen under both a sinful, fallen world's nature and events used by God as punishment. It would be prudent at the same time to be sure we don't turn into Job's "friends" and wag our fonger at every event. It's God's business one way or the other.

Quiet Christian, I don't believe there is any doubt amongst believers that there is a state in the US that's without sin - the cancer is everywhere. Back to the Sodom and Gomorrah analogy - the whole area was rife with sin but God took out the bastion of their pride. The Chinese have a proverb: the nail that sticks out gets hammered back in place. S&G's sins had apparently come to a head, above the rest of the region. God dealt with it in particular. I look forward to the day He comes to set finally eradicate the scar's of sin and establish His enduring kingdom. Come so

Well, really nothing new under the sun...
Abraham, Hagard and her son Ishmial versus Sarah and Issac...
Jacob, Leah (all her offspring) and Rachel (and all her offspring)...

Seems we have always walked a familially bitter road. However, God still redeems whomever He redeems no matter what we slop together.

While sin is sin to God, not everyone is Sodom & Gomorrah. So in the facts of our humanity on this planet Earth, there are offenses that we are to judge against humanity as more wrong than other offenses. Infanticide (largest abortion clinics are in CA), redistribution of wealth or theivery (CA taxation, use of imminent domain), sexual immorality (CA, check)... That state has not just silently slid into evil but has proudly shouted from the mountain tops their support for anything contrary to the rules of God's morality. They have been a proud bastion of perversion, murder, thievery & twisted minds.

First they are thrown into a drought; then floods; now fires & the rainy season is on it's way. May the Lord, indeed, call many to Himself before He closes this act.
