When the United States backs up it's outrage at China by ceasing to borrow money from them, buying their products and selling our goods to their billions of people, THEN and only THEN will I put any store in U.S. criticism. Talk is cheap!

The title of the piece is lacking. It could just as easily read "The Republicans and the Abortion Wars" because there are conservative Republicans who are pro-choice. Tom Ridge for one, and Mitt Romney (whom I would remind you all was supported in the primaries by Bob Jones III and some other "Fundamentalists").I refuse to accept Romney's "epiphany" from pro-choice as Governor of Massachusetts to pro-life as GOP Presidential candidate. A more accurate title for the piece would be "The POLITICIANS and the Abortion Wars". What is the primary goal of a candidate? Obviously, it is to get elected. What is the primary goal of an elected official? Obviously, it is to get re-elected. Keeping this in mind, the issue to all candidates usually remains neither theological, moral, ethical, or scientific. It becomes merely practical. What can they say/do to appeal to this/that group of voters at any given time? Do I believe that abortion is murder? Yes. Do I believe that it should be allowed in the case of rape or incest? No. Why? Murder is murder. Do you think McCain would answer those questions the same as I did? I think not. How about an abortion due to a Tay-Sachs diagnoses? What do you think McCain would say to a group of Jewish women voters? The heart must change before the law.

Excellent observation Neal. Any further comments would be redundant. You've expalined it exactly as it is.
Sad isn't it?

Must be true. For the 86th year in a row, not one Amish farmer has been charged with speeding in Lancaster County Pa.

In the election of 1800 John Adams' supporters produced "evidence" that Thomas Jefferson intended to burn Bibles if elected, and would legalize prostitution. Jefferson supporters responded with "documents" showing that Adams intended to proclaim himself king, and that he was mentally deranged. They also accused Adams of having "hermaphroditical" tendencies rendering him neither male nor female in his state of mind. In 1964 Johnson supporters produced the infamous "little girl with the daisy" campaign advertisement which practically guaranteed that Goldwater intended to "blow North Vietnam off the map" with a thermonuclear device that would prompt a Russian response on the USA. In the 2000 primary Bush suporters conducted an 11th hour telephone "questionaire" in South Carolina which asked "Could you support John McCain if it was revealed that he fathered an illegitimate Black child?". You are going to believe whatever you want believe.

Scott is correct. The HSA is to health care what the 401k is to pension plans. The security of a guaranteed benefit is tied to the market which in turn pumps money into a risk venture that the average citizen neither wants nor can afford.

It would appear that no longer can the under-shepherds of the flock say along with Peter, "Silver and Gold have I none".

Looking at the Barna criteria for "Evangelical", it appears that it all boils down to whether or not one believes in "Biblical Inerrancy". I suggest that this is where the rub lies. At least I hope so. Belief in Biblical Inerrancy does not allow for acceptance of abortion or sodomy. Although Papists and many Protestants have official church positions in line with this, individuals may and usually disagree on what they consider wrongly to be "personal" issues. A belief in Biblical Inerrancy forces your "personal" issue to be what God says it ought to be. If I'm correct, then Obama's support for so called "Gay Rights" and "A Woman's Right To Choose" is what puts him outside the margin of Evangelical thought. If I'm wrong, then even if he was Pro-Life and Anti-Sodomy, the Evangelicals would not support him. This would lead to a possibility that the Evangelical opposition is based more on economical (Capitalist vs Socialist) and political (Nationalistic vs Cooperative World thinking) reasons rather than Biblical reasons. I'm not sure how good I would feel about that, from a Christian perspective. I think that I would prefer to believe that the Evangelical response to Obama was more spiritually driven than worldly driven. Interesting possibilities for discussion though!

Funny, I did not hear anything about our "Christian" President who consults God before making policy decisions, mentioning anything about China's forced abortion mandates. He is "pro-life" isn't he? I guess the buying power of a billion people is too precious a commodity to risk losing. Well, it appears that even Republican Neo-Cons live up to the old Jewish idiom, "when it comes to pleasing God or making gelt, gelt wins every time!".

"For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12.
Is it normal for a man to attempt to read with his ear, or listen with his nose, or smell with his foot? What then is normal about sodomy?

May I respectfully suggest to Rowan Williams that not only should gay bishops, but gay priests and deacons as well be forbidden. Those ordained should be given their walking papers. The church should then do the same with women bishops, priests and deacons. Then Williams should apologize to Christ Almighty for the decades of insult heaped upon the church by liberal cockamany theologians. Declare total acceptance of the 39 Articles to be required for church membership, require a belief in the inerancy of Scripture, and for all seminarians to read and write a thesis on the writings of the late Bishop J.C. Ryle. THEN, the turmoil in that denomination will cease. Half measures are but a lukewarm response to what ails them. And you know what Christ has to say about "lukewarm"!

If, in fact, he became a Christian, his warning to Israel should not be concerning Hamas, but dying without Jesus. Hamas may torment the Israeli Jew on earth, but continuing to deny their Messiah will cost them an eternity in Hell, despite what John Hagee thinks.

Several members of my family (including myself) were saved listening to Family Radio in the mid-1970s. At that time the station carried a number of speakers and ministries well within the realm of Fundamentalist, Evangelical, Reformed Orthodoxy. One by one they all left (despite the fact that they were never charged a dime to broadcast on Family Radio) because of Camping going off his rocker. Soon almost all of the station's employees left as well. Camping is left with mostly loonies like himself, with the exception of one Godly man who has a physical handicap so severe he is unlikely to find employment outside of Family Radio. (Pray for him.) I believe that God has a message in all this. NEVER confuse the message with the messenger. And ALL men are totally depraved and subject to sinful pride and prejudice. And ALWAYS compare EVERYTHING you hear no matter how much you respect and love the speaker with Scripture. And, when ANY ministry falls away,(including your church) get out QUICK and never look back.

Engineer: With all due respect, I believe that quoting Matt.20:15 and applying it as proof of God's anti-union stance is a bit out of context. Should we apply "Thou shalt not muzzle the ox which treadeth out the grain" to mean that God supports the Employee Free Choice Act? This would make out the Bible to be at odds with itself, would it not? The Scripture requires employers to be fair with employees (which WalMart has continually failed to do), and for employees to give loyalty to their employers, (which many, both union, and non-union, both rank and file and management, fail to do). By all means take your position on unions and hold to it in the liberty our constitution gives us, but please practice a little more restraint in applying theological positions of Holy Writ regarding the Lord's salvation plan to a Biblical mandate against organized labor.

In Christ:
Tony

Traditionally, at the end of the Rosary it is customary to recite the "Hail Holy Queen", Mother of mercy, Our Life, Our Sweetness, our Hope, to Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Ever, to Thee do we send up our sighs, mourning & weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show unto us the Blessed Fruit of Thy Womb Jesus, Oh clement, Oh loving, Oh sweet Virgin Mary.Pray for us oh Holy Mother Of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. So it's Christian and not Catholic eh? IN A PIG'S EYE !!!! It's blasphemous Papal poopery, along with the whole Rosary mantra.

"Hast thou found honey? Eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith , and vomit it".
Proverbs 25:16

America's greedy upper crust is in great stomach distress. Sadly, their vomit will fall right on the heads of the common man.

Eph. 4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth...."

1 Cor. 14:34 "Let your women keep silent in the church, for it is not permitted for them to speak".

1 Tim. 3:2 "An elder (bishop) sahll be the HUSBAND of one WIFE."

Sin is sin.
