Well said, shane. When people leave the faith, it doesn't mean that we're becoming extinct, it means that they were never of the faith to begin with.

These types of things are what give Christianity a bad rep. Sometimes I'd rather them be atheists than confuse all the potential believers. The devils done a mighty work in the US.

The arcticle was kind of misleading to say the least. It makes it out like the parents were upholding the teaching of the Word of God by what they did. They didn't even give us specifics on what they did to her.

Sure. Real smart. Brittany Spears could not be farther away from God. Sometimes I wonder if people have forgotten to use their brains...

I place the blame totally on the parents. It is the parent's job to make sure their child grows up right. I wish more parents would do their job correctly.

Hall of shame is right! Sometimes I wonder how these people get so many people to follow them... You'd think people would use the sense God gave them.

This goes against the Bible on so many levels. How about the verse that says we are to "install from strong drink". As for just being there to try and reach the ones who won't come to church, doesn't it say in James that we are to be " in the world but not of it". Nowhere does it say "don't heed unto my words if you see differently" or " thou mayest be drunken with wine if thou useth thy better judgment"! I know that sounds a little corny, but that's what he's saying. Maybe he doesn't really know what the Bible says? I don't know. Hopefully someone will tell him as this "effort to evangelize" is further dragging the name of Christianity in the mud

The words "self-proclaimed" should tell us something right off the bat. Why is it that there are people all over the world that make totally outlandish claims about all sorts of things, but if someone does it, and says they're a christian, it's in the news or there's an article written about it. They're trying to male us seem like fools...

Another sad attempt of man trying to bring God down to our level. Why in the world would someone have secular music in a CHURCH service? Isn't the point of church giving glory to God. There is no way God is glorified in the life of Katie Perry or any other Hollywood actor/singer. Also, crude and improper language in church is not acceptable. I'd be interested to see how many people actually attend there... So sad...

“ Real Instructions ”
I really appreciate the point that we must pray in a seperate place. When I became a Christian, I had a pretty solid discipline in prayer. But years later, someone gave me Brother Lawrence's 'The practice of the presence of God.' After that and until recently, my prayer life was decimated. I am so encouraged that Mr. Washer frequently mentions the need to get alone with God and pray. Sure we should pray as we go about our day, especially prayers of thankfulness. But that kind of prayer is not to diminish "closet prayer." Here is something worth quoting from brother Paul's sermon: often hear people say this. “Well, you know, brother, Paul,” especially young men. I will hear them say, “Well, you know, brother Paul, I don’t pray that much in a specific place or anything. I just kind of... you know, I just pray as I go and I practice the presence of the Lord as I am going through my daily activities.' I don’t believe that. I don’t believe that at all. Because it is the wisdom of men down through the ages that the only way that you can truly learn to practice the presence of God throughout your entire life and throughout your day is by spending great portions of time with God isolated and alone, separated from the noise. You see, it is in your prayer closet that you lear

This is definitely a controversial subject for me. Sure, I boycotted mcdonalds when it was supporting get marriage, and even Target for awhile, but you just can't get away from it! As or 2009 13000 companies supported gay marriage. All the car companies, all the supermarkets (except walmart), all the well-known restaurants, everything. There were only 3 that were against gay marriage. Walmart, Sam's and Chick-fil-a. The only way to get away from it is this- We could stop buying food from these places, we could stop eating out, and we could stop buying cars, never go to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts again, but that makes like extremely difficult! Since there's not a chapter and verse on the subject, I guess we will have to decide for ourselves.

“ Preaching rarely seen in Bible camps ”
When I was in college, I had the privelege of being a Bible camp counselor during the summers. I have heard many people preach at kid's camp. However, most of their preaching was worthless. In this sermon, Brother Paul really sets an example of effective preaching to children. You hear a patient, loving minister who you get the impression takes the faith very seriously in his life. He teaches in a very simple manner that is very thoughtful and instructive. I think that this kind of teaching naturally flows out of a dedicated Christian life. Many of the people I heard did a terrible job of preaching. My pastor says, "what you win them with is what you win them to." Their preaching was fueled by entertainment, an appeal to selfish desires, and use of the wisdom of man. ultimately, most of the speakers won the children to an entertaining, sugar daddy version of God and Jesus--a false Jesus. Mr. Washer used the gospel and the very word of God to win them to to real Jesus Christ. And, not to mention, he was even still a down to earth, humorous man to these children. ("Bye!") Perhaps the most noteworthy thing from this sermon is that Mr. Washer advises these children to read the entire Bible. How often does this happen? Surely it is no unreasonable advice!

“ Great Sermon! ”
This sermon focuses on the truth of Romans 12:1-2. Brother Paul talks about loving God with all of who you are. With your mind - to think about God and the things of God, and not to think about things that are displeasing to Him. Not to create an image or understanding of God according to your own desires, such as William P Young did with the Shack or that artists do with paintings of "Jesus." With your ears - to listen to songs that are good, and to not listen to songs that are worldly. And so on. Around the 58:30 mark he gives a provoking case for godly standards regarding what movies we watch, the Brownie Illustration. Check it out! One memorable quote is that Leonard Ravenhill once said in a service that God will give two promises to those who believe the gospel: salvation and a cross. "Men who are broken"! I appreciated this because I have cancer and am suffering from four months of chemo. These kinds of messages "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comforted" to use that saying. A last memorable point is that Washer says If a church says 'we dont talk about sin,' i can guarentee you the holy spirit is not there. Why? Because one of the main ministries of the holy spirit is to convict people of their sin. "When He comes, He will convict the world of sin."

“ Great Sermon! ”
"Do you realize that one of the greatest philosophical, theological, moral problems in the universe is not 'why do bad things happen to good people?' But 'why does anything good happen at all?' This is a fallen world! Do you understand that? The mass of humanity is in constant rebellion against God!"

I agree. I can't see how rap and hard rock music could do you any good whatsoever! Don't get me wrong, I love music and listen to it daily. I always feel so much better if I have a song in my heart!
