Reply to Teresa Teresa,
"I think" is hardly authoritative.
No, we are not mid-trib.
There are many that heard this 67 minute recording who are quite glad we didn't mention Daniel. Please help me understand at what time we should have dealt with that passage during this recording.
Reply to John E I do indeed believe that the 12 stars are Jacob, Leah and the 12 tribes. That is my favorite of two different views of which I am most acquainted. Regarding, the 1/3 of angels, I must admit, on the recording, I went back to my former view of those stars. I am going to see how I treat it in my commentary and get back to you. Thanks for stopping in.
Reply to Jeff Brother Jeff,
Thanks for listening and thanks for the question. I cannot answer for the other three guys, but I can tell you that Paul is SO definitive in my opinion that if it doesn't pan out the way he says, he was mistaken. The thing I need to do is determine whether that endangers inerrancy. I know the right answer in this forum, but I refuse to believe the apostle was wrong or so guided by the Holy Spirit that He could be so definitive and yet proceed beyond that which was appropriate given his limited understanding of eschatology.
Reply to Lisa Sister,
Hungry sheep make for hard working shepherds. Hard working shepherds are thankful to find green pastures.
You have made me glad.
Say howdie to Matthew.
Reply to Leatherneck and Alfred Hyper Calvinists do not find "paid for by the blood of Jesus" to be true of every person. Therefore, training their children that "God loves every person and paid for their sins with Christ's blood" is not salient as they don't believe it.
Reply to Sam That is not a good argument, Sam. Making somebody prove your point by explaining what something is in light of your own lack of a proof text is simply you not owning your burden of proof. If you'd like to talk "wrath" and the tribulation, let's do so:
1. When is "wrath" first found in Revelation?
2. When does this reference occur on the timeline?
Reply to Kiryu Thanks for stopping in. I was in your area in 2011 with another pastor teaching the book of Ephesians to some English/beginning Bible students. It was pretty awesome. Thanks for helping us get back to Jerusalem. Won't be long. Matthew 24:14
Don't know much about Greek One more thing, Troy,
In saying somebody "doesn't know much about the Greek" and accusing two Pastors of "terrible ignorance" I felt compelled to help you understand the "indefinite article" you say the JW's inserted into the Greek text actually doesn't exist. That is to say...there are NO "indefinite articles" in Greek.
You can see my almost 10 recordings on JW's for more information and attend a beginner's Greek course for further information.
Much love to you for the cause of Christ
Reply to Troy Hey, Troy,
I was taking a jog on Tuesday morning when I was listening to this podcast and I too wondered about the comparison.
Take a look at the second time theos is used in John 1:1 in the Greek text of your choice...there is no definite article: https://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/jhn/1/1/t_conc_998001
Now notice in 1 Corinthians 14:2 and you will notice the absence of the Greek article before theos in the Greek...which is itself a textual variant. Compare the two for yourself: https://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/1co/14/1/t_conc_1076002
Two summaries:
1. Pastors Sean and Dave were right about the Greek text of John 1:1.
2. The MacArthur note regarding 1 Corinthians 14:2 is quite the risky assumption based on a textual variant. In other words, you have to use his reading to prove his point. Can you imagine saying "some Corinthian believers were speaking gibberish to demons, but I can only say that based on a textual variant?"
Quite the stretch.
Reply to BRF I like what you're saying. I just know that printing another one to replace the one they think they skillfully planted in your home is almost no deterrent at all. It may be, to them, a badge of honor.
I do think the Lord can bless your intent, though. Thanks for your efforts to reach them for Christ's sake.
Reply to Alfred Dearest Brother, great question and one I struggled with a little in this lesson: http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=8413926221
Reply to Justin Do not assume we are ignorant or "lack understanding" simply because we don't find credence within "KJV onlyism." Having Sam Gipp would provide nothing more than a "Anti-nonKJVonlyism" viewpoint. I am familiar with him and his daddy in the faith Peter S. Ruckman and all the other fellas from the PBI world. I read my first "advanced light" books of "The Christians' Handbook to Manuscript Evidence" and "The Scholarship Only Controversy" while I was 19 years old so I doubt, since I own more than 10 of his commentaries, I will get anything new from his golden child Gipp.
Reply to Alfred "Are you saying this is one event?: Yes. Zech 14 and 1 Thes 3:13 & 2 Thes 1:7 are clearly the same event: He comes with angels.
1 Thes 4: He is obviously coming with saints who are dead. So...given the proximity of 1 Thes 3:13 and 4:15--and Paul's continuing language, it doesn't appear legitimate to force two different events.
"What about the rapture of the 144,000 in Rev 14 which were redeemed from the earth." I am not sure just yet. You are right...it does appear to be a separate event.
Reply to Brother David Winslow Ah, now your email makes sense! It's interesting that you say "you doubt you can reason with those blinded to the truth." I don't know if you intended on doing this, but the very story has people who are "struck blind" and yet grope for the door to get to the folks who blinded them!!! Inconceivable! Well, thanks for the feedback, brother (and the good information about S & G's existence).
Reply to Alfred I am beginning to think you are a troll. We have not been "pre-trib" as a ministry (publically) in 3 years and I don't think you can find us ever being "pre-wrath."
Please stay nice.
