John Gerstner and RC Sproul and John MacArthur and three great Reformed theologists in our current time. Not to mention Augustine, Calvin, J Edwards and the infamous Luther also held the belief of Reformed theology. I do not consider any of these men's word to inerrant, however when they all are in agreement on one thing, namely God's sovereignty in regards to what's called now the 5 points of Calvinism, I pay attention. Christians don't put God in a box so that we can all fully understand Him. If we could fully understand God he wouldn't be God. Gods sovereignty is above our minds, the link between predestination and freewill, preservation of the saints and judgement for actions, faith in God and saved by grace yet always accompanied by works but never saved by works. All of these are great truths that are difficult to understand fully, yet that doesn't make them true. The trinity is impossible to understand yet we believe. Jesus virgin birth is beyond human logic but we believe. The truths of Gods sovereignty are no different except Christians consider them "not fair" or in some way think God isn't excercising enough grace. His ways are not our ways and Hos thought not our thoughts, don't dumb God down because we cannot fathom His divine supernatural person. |
