Sandy Hook was carried out by a nutjob who got his weapons ILLEGALLY! As has been noted by a poster here, who himself was part of obtaining guns illegally, criminals do not care!!! And shall we discuss the fact that on the same day sandy hook happened a Chinese man went on a knife killing spree at a elementary school in China! Shall we ban knifes? Please don't! You'll only complicate my kitchen duties! Criminals set on murdering will do so regardless of a ban on any object. The solution is not to unarm law abiding citizens but to preach the Gospel in hopes that God will call a sinner to repentance. It's a heart issue not a weapon issue.

Reality check needed. Not a single person I know owns an assault rifle. It really isn't that common. One more thought, Cain didn't have a gun yet he still killed his brother.

Lynda, I'd encourage you to stay. You gave great insight on the C S. Lewis thread. Sadly, as you have noticed there are a few who really do not care for truth. Overlook those few and fellowship with the rest. Sometimes going into "lurker mode" is a much needed break.
Dolores, quit judging Dave's judging.

Ok Milk K. toast, you have me convinced. I will no longer question the cultural and will just go along with everything because "that's the way it has always been done." By the way, those athiests you mentioned are just as confused as the christians.

Beetle, the Lords birth is important but the story doesn't end there. His death, the ultimate Passover, is what we are commanded to do (celebrate) in remembrance of the Lord not his birth. And if you'll read the Scriptures He gives the layout of how it's to be done, breaking of bread and drinking of the cup. Trees are not mentioned, mistletoes are not mentioned, presents are not mentioned, etc. Luke 22:19 "and he took bread , and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me"

Those who claim Xmas as "being about Jesus" are not being honest. Take away their tree and see if they don't grow depressed. Take away their money to buy material goods that moth and rust doth corrupt and thieves steal and see if they don't get emotional. If it's about Jesus then why is He not enough? Why all the extra stuff needed? Because it's not about the Lord. His name is just thrown in there so they can feel good about partaking in a worldly holiday. If you're going to do partake in it at least be honest; it's to please your flesh not the Lord.

All the pity party nonsense is annoying. Since I've been on this forum Dolores has played on emotions and has always played the woest me card. She has shown that she doesn't care if she errs. She loves her ears to be tickled and doesn't want to be told she is wrong. I say let her be. Correct a statement if you must but end it there. Don't get caught up in her emotional games. Manipulation is not a trait of a godly woman. :\

Brother Frank, thank you for your kind comment. I was pleased to see your comments on this post before mine. You have a lot of good to say on this topic.
Now if we could only get Dorcas to post her husbands famous reply....

It is not a gray area. Scripture has plenty to say about women and their duties/roles. Unfortunately, you have taken the position that despite what God says you will continue to do what you want. Sadly, you are being encouraged to continue in "christian" feminism. May the Lord show you the truth. Good day.

Angela wrote: "please continue to follow your Pastors advice as the good Lord has placed you under his care"
On the contrary, 1 Corinthians 14:35 "and if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in the church" She is not under her pastors care but her husbands care. She is to ask her husband questions not the pastor. The pastor deals with the men and the men with their own families. Before God each men stands or falls for his obedient to the Lord in leading his family. This is of course assuming her husband is a believer. If not then she should ask the pastors wife for advice and the pastors wife could speak to her own husband about the matter. In the end, it doesn't matter what a pastor tells a woman. She is under her husbands headship and is to be obedient to her own husband. See Titus 2:5 Of course, this is not an excuse to go against what the Lord says. Sin

Read Judges 4 and you'll see where God does you Deborah along with Barak but who does He place in the hall of faith in Hebrews 11? Not Deborah. Barak.
"Christ brought honor and dignity to women and children"
As Frank said Christ and the Father are one and they gave them the honor and dignity. They declared through scripture what a woman's job is. It is not the feminist list you have.

Allie wrote "as a woman I can vote"

Do you know who brought this about? It wasn't God. It was feminist women who did not want to submit and thought they knew more then men. Please burn your bra while your at it. I do jot mean to sound harsh but that is the mindset behind it.
I encourage you to read Scripture and see what God says a woman is to do. It's more then sitting around twaddling her thumbs. Read Proverbs 31:23 and you will see that the godly.woman the Lord has laid out for christian women to be like is not known in the gates but her husband is. Political offices or any office for that matter is contrary to this. Yes the Proverbs 31 woman was industrious but this did not inerfer with her first calling. There are seasons of life and I would say her work is more in line with selling homemade goods at a farmers market or an etsy shop not supervising a bunch of men.
Also.Deborah was a punishment to Isreal. There was not a godly men to be found anywhere. There are godly men today. There is no need for a Deborah. More coming...
